...well that's how I felt as I stood at the end of the wood planked pier at Rocky Point Park, staring out at the ocean and mountains, as the perfection of the crow's design met the rapid winds above.
I was reminded that all things are created for a purpose and intertwined with unique and flawed perfection. I find this a common theme of my thoughts where my art is concerned. How can nature with it's thousands of years of evolved perfection blend comfortably with man made structure and industry? How will life, in particular the lives of animals, who have evolved and survived, as they have with perfection... for thousands of years, evolve as rapidly as we humans have? They won't, they can't... I'm not even sure if we can...The result is adding more and more animals to the endangered species list and this will just continue to grow. We have made such radical changes to our environment in such a short amount of time. Not just changes to the landscape, threatening the homes of these animals, but changes to the air & and water as well. This is growth...growth of our population and the need for space and industry to support it. Can we make environmentally sound choices and can these be more accesible to everyone? And then there is the intentional population destruction of certain species for human consumption and desire. This one is especially hard to fathom... are we that short sighted?
I don't believe this effect is un-reversible, but I do believe people need to be aware. With awareness comes thought, and with thought comes action.
